It’s a very exciting time to join our team as 2022 is already looking busy at our Activity Centres.  As we take the next step of our journey to our normal capacity, we have a number of paid and volunteer roles.

Communications Manager

We are looking for someone who can effectively manage their time between County communications, Website management, County Event communications and the Centre’s and their event communications including all our digital and social platforms.

Salary:​ £26,000, rising to £30,000 dependent on experience

Guest Services - Casual

We are looking for people to work across both the Bookings and Activities teams, to support and ensure that every customer interaction has a positive result and make a key contribution to the delivery of our growth.

Salary:​ £9.50 per hour at 18 years of age

Location:​ Any Hertfordshire Scouts Activity Centre

Catering Manager

The responsibility of the Catering Manager is to ensure that we have the right staff in the right place with the right ingredients and that we deliver a high quality experience to our customers.

Salary:​ £28,000, rising to £32,000 dependent on experience

Activities Staff - Casual

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to assist our Lead Instructors in delivering our activities in a fun and safe manner, ensuring the best experience for our customers.

Salary:​ £9.50 per hour at 18 years of age (potential increase based on qualifications)

Location:​ Any Hertfordshire Scouts Activity Centre

Lead Instructor and General Assistant - Seasonal

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to provide the best possible experience for our customers delivering our activities in a fun and safe manner.

Salary:​ £23,000 pro rata

Guest Services - Weekend

We are looking for an individual to provide our weekend customer service, including meeting and greeting visitors, taking payments, handing out activity equipment, and ensuring their visit is a positive experience.

Salary:​ £19,760 pro rata

Catering - Casual

We are looking for individuals to work in our catering facilities who enjoy prepping, cooking and delivering food to customers, sometimes on a large scale.

Salary:​ £9.50 per hour at 18 years of age (potential increase based on qualifications)

House Keeping - Casual

We are looking for House keepers who have a keen eye for detail and a sense of pride when cleaning and maintaining our facilities before and after our customers visits.

Salary:​ £9.50 per hour at 18 years of age

Volunteer Staff – Activity Centre Service Team

Our volunteers come from all backgrounds – from students to Scout Leaders, retired professionals to those just wanting to get involved in something different and rewarding for a couple of hours a week and most important its #GoodForYou

You may just want to volunteer to help on a short term basis or be interested in a more regular volunteer position with us – either way your contribution will be invaluable in helping us run and develop our Activity Centres. With Phasels and Tolmers our larger centres, coupled with Harmergreen and Well End on the smaller side, it doesn't matter if you're with us for just a few hours or become a regular volunteer, you'll be given full support and training to fulfil your role and become part of #TeamHertfordshire

You may have professional trade skills that can help maintain our facilities, such as carpentry or mechanics, or just be interested in getting involved in the day-to-day support of our centres. Whatever your current skills and aims we are sure to have the right role for you. Midweek, weekends, evenings, we operate 7 days a week so can be flexible around your availability.

Role Description

 

The Service Crew or Service Teams at each of our locations offer support across all aspects of running a busy activity centre, including:

 

  • Activity Instructors

  • Car Parking

  • Cleaning

  • General Maintenance

  • Ground works and landscaping

  • Mechanics

  • Reception/Admin

  • Shop

  • Tradesmen (electricians, carpenters, etc)
